Jothi Bevan

Director, Chair - Durham Chapter at Ontario Power Generation

Jothi Bavan is Senior Manager Engineering Manager at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Darlington
Nuclear Generating Station.
Jothi joined as a new graduate at OPG and has been with the company for 19 years. Her unique
strength is her agility to move into challenging roles, as she believes in diversity of knowledge. She has
moved onto managing individual contributors and section managers at the following departments at
OPG’s Nuclear Station: Design Engineering, Performance Engineering, Procurement Engineering,
Supply Chain and Refurbishment – Integration and Return to Service. She has also undertaken the role
of an Outage Control Centre (OCC) Manager role.
Jothi has also obtained the Design Authority (DA) Qualification for the Darlington station, a role which
protects the Design Basis of the Nuclear Power Plant at all times; she earned her Bachelor of Applied
Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and Master’s of Engineering in
Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University, by taking courses while she was on maternity leave
and on weekends. She has also completed the CANDU nuclear reactor’s Advanced Operations
Overview for Managers.
Jothi is a well known STEM advocate who has started a $2000/year bursary under her late mother’s
name for women entering Engineering at University of Waterloo.
