Lisa McBride is President of Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada. In her role Lisa provides vision, strategic direction, and oversight of the day-to-day operations of WiN Canada, an organization comprised of over 5,700 members across Canada. WiN Canada seeks to address three challenging goals. First, to engage and educate the public regarding the safe use and application of nuclear and radiation technologies. Second is to provide professional development opportunities for WiN Canada members. The third is to promote career interest in nuclear among women and young people. Lisa is also the Chair of the Women for STEM Council at Ontario Tech University.
In her day job, Lisa is the Country Leader, Small Modular Reactors for GE Hitachi’s Nuclear Products Division. In her role, Lisa is responsible for leading the collaboration with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to deploy the BWRX-300 SMR in Canada, targeting to be the world’s first operational grid-scale SMR before 2028.
Lisa has over 18 years’ experience in the nuclear industry, starting her career with Ontario Power Generation. Her drive and commitment have propelled her into several key leadership roles, including leading Nuclear Security Operations for Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, Senior Manager of Enterprise Emergency Management, Manager, Labour Relations, Senior Manager of Organization Design and Manager, Stakeholder Relations for the Nuclear Regulatory Affairs group at Ontario Power Generation. Lisa’s diverse experiences have positioned her to engage in several critical initiatives, where her experience across the business has resulted in her leadership of several multi-disciplinary teams. Lisa holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from the University of Guelph.
