Control Room Shift Supervisor
As a Board of Director of events, Sara aims to promote WiN’s vision by creating impactful events that foster networking opportunities, support initiatives that promote professional development and mentorship, and collaboration within the nuclear community. As a member of the Board of Directors, Sara is committed to champion the role of women in nuclear energy and contribute to WiN’s ongoing success in shaping the future of the industry.
With 17 years of experience at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Sara is an experienced nuclear professional, and a passionate advocate for women in the nuclear energy sector. Sara holds a license from CNSC as a Control Room Shift Supervisor (CRSS) at the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant with OPG. In her role, Sara ensures the safe and reliable operation of the plant, adhering to regulatory compliance and leading a skilled crew to maintain operational excellence. Sara is the founder of the Bridging The Gap Program with the mission of increasing gender diversity and female representation in the male dominated licensed positions in the Nuclear Plant Control Rooms.
Sara has a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Electrical Engineering from University of Waterloo and a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University through the UNENE program. With a technical foundation in electrical and nuclear systems, and leadership experience in Nuclear Operations, Sara is committed to promoting and advancing the nuclear industry and is excited to contribute to WiN’s mission of supporting women in this growing sector.
